Z’OURGANG NEWFOUNDLANDS 1978-1990

On May 16, 1978, the Newf love of my life was born at Dal-Ken Newfoundlands in Center, CO.  When I arrived there, looking for a loving pet, this little creature was 5 months old and she weighed 55 lbs.  When I got out of my car, TEN adult Newfs surrounded me and I knew then that I had stumbled into a little piece of heaven on earth.  That little puppy became Dal-Ken’s Baby Doe. She elbowed her way through all of those big dogs to get to me.  I knew right then and there that she would be my Baby. After we bathed and groomed her and took care of business, I opened the door to my car and she jumped inside and never looked back. Babe became the Foundation Bitch for our kennel, Z’ourgang Newfs.  Babe (aka Mom) was a great mother.  She whelped two litters of thirteen puppies and one singleton.  Some of those puppies became Champions and one even became a Best in Show Winner. Two of them became foundation bitches for other Newfoundland kennels, one of those won Brood Bitch at the National.  The others, not to be outdone,  were simply loved by their families.

My husband, Pat, and I started showing our Newfs in Colorado in 1979. We moved to California in 1982 and showed heavily there against wonderful competition.  That is where Magic placed and won many groups and BIS in Pebble Beach, CA. Some blessed soul took a video of the win and gave it to my handler to give to me.  I treasure Magic’s and all of their memories still.
